April is here and it’s time to apply the latest monthly Microsoft Security Patches to your desktops! The desktops should already have their patches downloaded and applied over the last few days. Please remember to shutdown/restart your PC when you leave the office this week in order for all patches to be applied.
For those unsure on how to update: allow yourself at least 10 – 15 minutes to fully shutdown and restart your system. This ensures patches are applied, this can also address (and solve) some problems you may be having with your system. You can also manually check by following steps that can be found here.
Windows 10 Latest Version: We are eagerly awaiting the May release of the latest Windows 10 version. This version was due to arrive this month, but Microsoft announced the delay last week. Microsoft are hoping to release the version in late May and we will be sure to let you know when it arrives in next month’s newsletter, as well as how to make the most of that update for your business! For now, you can take a look at those upcoming changes here. For further security information for your Windows 10 devices, take a look through this link.
For our Apple users, this month brought the latest macOS release, 10.14.4 to your devices. You are likely to have updated, but if unsure if you have been updated, click your Apple logo in the top left corner, go to ‘About This Mac’, and if your version is not at 10.14.4, click ‘Software Update’ and go from there! This update brings about changes to Safari, such as Dark Mode, and extra security for insecure webpages. The updates resolve some wi-fi connectivity issues, and fix further bug issues identified by some users. For other update information, have a look here.
For iPhone and iPad users, the latest version of iOS was released at the end of March. This is version 12.2. This version brings about Apple News+, a subscription service that extends the basic Apple News app with hundreds of magazines and newspapers, as well as personalised recommendations. Siri has been updated with extra ‘Hey Siri…’ features , as well as Safari updates similar to the macOS release above. For more information about this update, take a look here. Not sure how to update? You can refresh your memory here. All other Apple update information can be found here.
